IKIGAI: My Reading

IKIGAI!!
ALL ABOUT LIVING LONG!
A blessing.

IKIGAI:The Japanese Secret to a Long and Happy Life ,published in April 2016 , written by Spanish writers ,Hector Garcia and Albert Liebermann is a book based on longevity and living a happy life.

According to the World Health Organization, Japan has the highest life expectancy in the world: 85 years for men and 87.3 years for women. Moreover, it has the highest ratio of centenarians in the world: more than
520 for every million people (as of September 2016).

In this book, lies the secrets to a long and happy life.First time I came across Japanese(language) in Doraemon and second time in IKIGAI.

So. Wait... Wait!
You might be thinking the meaning of IKIGAI. IKIGAI means "a reason for being".
This stresses on finding and following our own ikigai that is one of things common in all the centenarians of Japan.

What compelled me to read, I heard about Okinawa known as the Village of longevity. This book talks about Okinawa and the residents. Moreover, book was suggested by my brother. Many Thanks to him.

The book goes quite placid. One can make joy by reading the real time case studies of centenarians and super-centenarians of Japan (Ogimi and Okinawa), their movements and exercises (Radio taiso) which is practised by 30% of the population throughout their lives, their cuisine and much more. Delightful!!

According to scientists who have studied the five Blue Zones, the keys to longevity are diet, exercise, finding a purpose in life (an ikigai), and forming strong social ties—that is, having a broad circle of friends and good family relations.

Sedentary children suffer from high rates of obesity and all its associated health issues and risks, which is why it’s so important to develop a healthy and active lifestyle at an early age.

So, be active, guys!

Facts-
Okinawa is the only province in Japan
without trains. Its residents have to walk or cycle when not driving. Writer quoted,
"When we visited Ogimi, the Village of Longevity, we discovered that even
people over eighty and ninety years old are still highly active. They don’t stay at
home looking out the window or reading the newspaper."

Now you have read this, go and read the book. Have your good time reading.
